Better Birding Begins Here

May 10, 2016

Whether you're an amateur birder or longtime ornithologist, you'll find the Turks & Caicos Islands a prime spot for indulging your passion for feathered friends. The islands' salt ponds and inland marshes attract a colorful array of resident birds and those just passing through, including great blue herons, osprey, pelicans, terns, egrets, flamingos and more - in fact, some 170 species call the Turks & Caicos Islands home. Don’t be surprise if you see coastal birds like herons, gulls and egrets perching near your Provo villa. (Tip: Bring your binoculars.) Right here on Provo, your best bets for birding are the Northwest Point National Park and West Harbour Bluff and, if rare is a requisite, set your sights on the West Indian Whistling Duck, perhaps the rarest bird in TCI. You’ll you it by the whistling, naturally.
